Weather and drying: choosing an application window
Air temperature is only one part of the decision.

Read the selected product data
The application range depends on the product. For products submitted to the editors, Zinox specifies 10–30 °C; do not extend that range to all market products. Check substrate temperature as well.
Plan for rain and condensation
Available dry weather must cover application and film protection as specified. Dew, high humidity and cold surfaces can change conditions. Touch-dry does not mean fully cured.
Plan the second coat
Follow recoating intervals and drying requirements. Published times generally assume specific conditions. If site conditions change, consult the manufacturer rather than following a fixed schedule.
Frequently asked questions
Is air temperature enough?
No. A sunlit surface may be hotter than the air; a cold surface may encourage condensation. Check product limits for substrate temperature, humidity and rain-free time, and record site conditions.
Does touch-dry mean ready for rain?
Not necessarily. Surface drying, recoating and curing are different stages. Use the manufacturer’s stated rain-resistance interval; request adjusted guidance if conditions change.
This guide separates general principles from manufacturer claims. Product data submitted by Zinox was also reviewed. No independent comparative test results were provided.
